 Jim Came To Visit

http://chitwanbamboolodge.jimdo.com/english/

Jim the mouse, that is what I am calling him, he didn't actually tell me his name and besides I can't speak mouse anyway, so Jim, you left me calling cards during the night, that was not really necessary and I would much rather you did that outside!

I didn't invite Jim for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks, but he thought I had. A midnight feast to be exact! What on earth is that scratching sound in the corner of the bedroom? Is it the burglar from Pokhara trying to get into my room again? I sit up, listening, hearing rustling and plastic bags being investigated!!!

I start to breathe quicker, my heart beating faster, should I wake Richard and get him to have a look!! Nope, I am brave. Padding across the cold stone floor over to the bags, peering in, EEK, something scurried across the floor. It has to be Jim!

I think he has gone now, I cross the cold stone floor back to bed, ahh sleep beckons! Rustle rustle, scratching, squeaking, oh no, not again grrrr. Pad across the cold stone floor, quietly and slow, Jim is going to get it this time! Not literally I might add!

I get close to the bags, it goes quiet apart from a slight munch munch, I pick up the box of hobnobs, it feels heavy, my heart beats quicker, feeling a little scared in case Jim jumps out and scurries! I look closer into the box and there he is, eating my hobnobs!! He doesn't move, he sits there looking at me with a hobnob smirk on his face! Slowly I put the box on the floor, Im not going to put him outside in case the tiger is waiting, well he might be, who knows!

The midnight feast and partying went on for a couple of hours, Jim invited friends and they were running around the room squeaking burning off the hobnob calories! Ok ok, have a party but do it quietly please, Im trying to sleep here!

Night night.

13th April 2011

My visit to see my  cousin Joy was a good one. I caught the train to Carnforth where Joy met me in her lovely red mini. We decided to go to Kendal and have a browse round the town. First of all I needed a caffiene infusion so we stopped in a sweet little cafe and had a toasted tea cake and coffee, that certainly did the trick and I was ready to window shop!!

I am into collage and altered art, mixed media at the moment so I wanted to look in charity shops to see if there was anything I could find. I found a couple of bits of bobs, charity shops/boot fairs etc are great for that sort of thing, not spending a fortune and finding something different to use.

Joy bought some books for her son fairly early on in our day and ended up carrying them around with her, they were heavy, I would not have been able to carry heavy books for more than ten minutes and I would always ask the shop keeper if I can pick them up later, but Joy was adamant she was ok to carry them around!

I met Joy's son who is 13 and her lovely daughters and grandson which was great, I have met them before a long time ago when the girls were children, so it was good to meet them as adults at last.

I like Kendal, I think I would like to live near there when we are able to get a house, I really hope we find a   house we can fall in love with!

11th April 2011

Right Ok, how long is it since I have added a post to this blog, AGES! I am far too busy to be logging in and blogging every single day, I have stuff to do, places to visit, people to spend time with and spending it writing it all down in a daily blog is too much. So, from now on I intend to be less is more if you know what  I mean!

It's raining today, we have had some glorious weather the past few days, unfortunately Rich and I have had a cold/virus that I caught from the boys 2 weeks ago, :-( so not good as we have had no sleep from coughing and snoring, but we are now on the right side of it and hopefully now summer is on the way we will be able to ward off viruses more easily!

Im off to visit my cousin Joy who is on holiday in Pine lodges near Carnforth, I am going to catch the train and we will go from there. Oh and we are looking after Cassie  the cat again for a few days, I will take a photo of her and blog it!

19th February 2011

Andy goes to work this morning, a couple of extra clients, Helen and I chill out with the boys, waiting for Colin and Laura to turn up from Rathmell.

They arrive at midday, there has been snow up North, which surprised me. We have some lunch, then all of us take the boys to Moors Valley Country Park, and Rosie and Tusker too, the dogs.Kim has arrived too, Helen's BF.

George had a great time, he fell over a couple of times splat in the mud, he is a trooper though and only grisled about it for a moment or two.

Kim offered to baby sit so we can all go out as a family for a meal, that was really good of her, Kim is on a diet so does not want to go for dinner, it was really kind of her to babysit. Now I know why everyone was behaving a little odd, I thought it was strange that Kim came down to Bournemouth to go on a physio course and stayed at a hotel instead of at Helen's. I know Helen had a house full but I still thought it was slightly odd.

We all dressed up, I had taken a nice dress with me to Bournemouth just in case they took me out somewhere nice for my birthday, Andy kept saying we were going to an Italian restaurant, but that wasn't true, we went to a restaurant called Lily Langtry's where they regularly do a Edwardian banquet. When I arrived all my family were there sat at the table waiting for us, I was truely shocked, some of them have come a very long way to be there for my birthday, wow!

I can honestly say it was the most memorable birthday I have ever had, all thanks to my lovely daughter Helen who organised everything down to the i's dotted and the t's crossed! I feel truely blessed to have such a lovely family. We did not get home until 1am, poor Kim sat at home looking after the boys, luckily she did not mind.

18th February 2011

Ah, my birthday, 50 today, eek!

The number does not really worry me, not much anyway!! I still feel young most of the time, a few more aches and pains, but I think  it is our mental attitude that matters. I love doing new things, what is the point in doing the same old thing day after day, try a new food, read a different style of book, go to a different place you have never been to before, make a new friend, don't get me wrong I love routine and I find I need routine but we can become bored with life if we stay doing the same things.

There is one thing I have not been able to do for a long time and that is drive, I lost my confidence in driving and fear it immensely, I am not sure if it is something I can get over, I rely on lifts and public transport, not always convenient but that is the choice I make at the moment. So maybe my challenge for my 50th year is to give it a go again, I will let you know when I am going to do it so you can stay off the road! Just kidding!

I had a lovely day today, I am still in Bournemouth of course so I will not see Richard today but I have my lovely family here and they gave me a wonderful day. I came downstairs into the lounge, Helen had put up the birthday banner I had made for George's birthday. There were pink balloons put up and a pile of pressies on the settee! George thought they were for him which was sad for him but he has to learn that it is not always about him.

Helen and Andy gave me a beautiful Pandora bracelet and George and Harry gave me a little elephant charm to go on it. I have collected elephants for many years and have numerous elephant ornaments given to me for birthdays and christmases, but they have stopped now at my request, but a beautiful silver elephant charm is wonderful and the fact it is from my grandsons makes it even more special, I am very blessed.

Andy cooked us breakfast and we had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast, croissants and chocolate pains, orange juice and toast and marmalade, a fantastic breakfast for a birthday girl!

Helen pretended to be taking me to Sainsbury's to get some shopping, but actually we were heading to Christchurch, I knew something must be going on but was not sure, I thought maybe she had to collect something for the kids or Andy. We arrived at a ceramic shop where you can paint your own design on whatever you choose such as a vase, plate or mug etc. Helen and I chose to do a mug each.

We sat down with a lovely coffee, our mug and some paints we got started. Unfortunately the shop owners ipod was not available that day so there was no music to listen to, but we were so absorbed we did not really notice. I took ages deciding my design, I wanted to do something with land art in mind and painted the land art sunwheel design created by Richard. It is one of my favourites.

I will take a photo of my mug to show you, I ran out of time doing my mug, it was time consuming and took more effort than I realised, but I still enjoyed doing it and would like to do more art on pottery etc. Helen's mug was great, she made it for Andy and did a finger print or two of  skeletons. I will try and get a photo of that too.

After we left the shop we met Andy and the boys and Andy's mum and dad Diane and Keith at Harvester's. I was not sure what to expect at this pub as it is a chain of pubs and have not been impressed with other chain pubs, but I was very pleasantly surprised and would not hesitate to go back. I ordered a vegetarian pasta dish which was delicious. The boys behaved mostly, in fact Harry was the most annoying because he has developed this scream that he does very loudly if he wants attention, hopefully he will grow out that one soon!

Helen had got me a birthday cake, the sponge variety which I love, actually I love most cakes!! I always feel embarressed when there is a cake presented and I get sung Happy Birthday, but I really wouldn't have it any other way, it's not always about us is it, the loved ones who want to do something for you have as much rights in doing something nice for you whether you feel a bit embaressed or not, hopefully you get my drift!

Well there has been a lot going on as you can tell from this post. To cut it short we had pizza for tea and then bed. I had a great day.

17th February 2011

Had a fantastic day today, we went to Farmer Palmers near Wareham. We managed to get out early and stayed until 2pm.

George had a brilliant day, here he is with one of the guinea pigs. George was not happy when the guinea pig had to go back in his pen, he cried saying " George cuddle George cuddle" oh bless him, he is only two and can't understand why he couldn't carry on stroking him.

Here is Helen George on a trike at the farm, I pushed Harry around the track in his pushchair and Helen and George whizzed around in this!

We had a nice lunch at the farm, jacket potato and beans with salad. George played in the soft ball area, he loves soft play, and so do I!

After a round in the tractor we went home, a perfect day!
