Feeling much improved this morning to the point that Richard asked me not to be so chirpy! I suppose he has not been up all that long and having someone in a chirpy mood when you have not been awake long is annoying!
I need to rewind a couple of days. Saturday 9th, a lovely day, the weather was dry, bright and cold. Colin my son who is 31 in a couple of weeks time came over with his other half Laura. It was a belated Christmas get togther. Richard went off doing land art and we decided to go the the antiques place in Lancaster and then on to Heysham and the Royal Oak pub for lunch.
The antiques shop is an amazing place. It is a very large warehouse filled with anything you can think of really, from furniture to pots and pans, textiles, pictures all sorts of things. You could easily spend a whole day browsing in there, they charge £1.50 entry fee which is I suppose to allow them to stay open, even though I think most people going in would find it hard to not buy at least one item, so I think they do ok, I suspect a bit quiet during the weekdays.
We then went onto Heysham village which is on the way to Morecambe. Heysham is a pretty little village, it's one of the places that Richard and I do our sea/beach land art. Tusker Colin and Laura's collie dog was with us and as she had been stuck in the car for a couple of hours we decided to take her for a walk first. Tusker is a great dog, she is a happy bouncy border Collie and loves people, sometimes a bit too much, she loves attention and Colin and Laura struggle to stop her jumping up at people, something you don't really want her doing, not everyone likes dogs and besides she often has muddy feet!
The sea looked impressive, it is the first time I have seen the sea right in up to the wall and as it was windy it was rough and breaking against the wall, the tide must have been very high. It looked like a proper sea, Colin seemed surprised when I said that, but normally the sea is very low here and it is often just a wide exspanse of sand and the sea out in the distance.
After being suitably windswept we went off to the pub . It was the first time we had been in there, Colin wanted to go in as it was in the good beer guide, Colin is in to his real ales and beers, I prefer lager to beer, I find beers and ales a bit heavy on the palate preferring the freshness of a cold lager and lime.
The food was ok and that is about all I can say regarding the food. The pub itself was welcoming and had a lovely open fire. I would probably go back in there for a drink but would give the food a miss unless it is is just a simple sandwich I was after.
We came back home and after a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits that I had rustled up that morning we opened our belated Christmas presents. I received a lovely filofax diary and some small bits and bobs for the kitchen. Colin liked his motorbike book and Beano puzzle that I gave him and Laura loved her Jamie Oliver cookbook.
Richard came home a hour later looking weary after spending all day making a leaf structure. He was very cold and hungry. Colin and Laura gave him his Christmas pressie which was a recent Hairy Bikers cook book 'Mums know best'.
That is me up to date now, looking forward to the rest of the week. :)
